Teach Tap & Musical Theater/Jazz at BMCA! Inspiring youth dance role starting Jan 2027

Black Mountain Center for the Arts is seeking a passionate, community-minded Tap and Musical Theater/Jazz Instructor to take over a weekly Tuesday afternoon class block for the Spring 2027 season. This role is ideal for an educator who combines technical proficiency in tap footwork and Broadway jazz with a warm, encouraging teaching style that fosters creativity and confidence in young dancers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Weekly Instruction: Lead three back-to-back youth classes on Tuesday afternoons: - Tap 1 (Ages 5–7) | 3:45 PM – 4:15 PM - Tap 2 (Ages 8–12) | 4:15 PM – 5:00 PM -Musical Theater/Jazz 2 (Ages 10–16) | 5:00 PM – 5:45 PM
  • Curriculum & Lesson Planning: Create age-appropriate syllabi and engaging weekly lesson plans.
  • Recital Choreography: Choreograph routines, select music, and prepare students for the annual spring recital on Sunday, May 16, 2027 at Owen High School.
  • Communication & Admin: Maintain clear email communication with student families regarding class updates.

Compensation

Weekly Classes: 70% tuition split (BMCA retains 30%), paid monthly.
Recital: Share of the Recital Net Revenue Pool.
