Hidden Hills: Studio + Housing Application
Hidden Hills: Studio + Housing Application
Hidden Hills is an artist-run residency program based out of West Asheville, NC.
Developed in 2023 by Britt Harrison as an effort to sustain and grow the local creative community in Asheville while providing creative space for regional and national artists. In response to Hurricane Helene and the devastation that the art community in Asheville and surrounding areas has suffered, Hidden Hills will be opening up residential, studio space, and community workshops to artists who have been affected by the storm. Artists are invited to use this space to make new work inspired by their new environment or continue their existing studio practice while a resident at Hidden Hills Residency.
We are currently offering TWO separate opportunities: One is for an artist who lost housing due to Helene who needs a place to live while working on their art. The second opportunity is for a local commuter who has their own housing and will use the studio space for free for 4 weeks. See application link below for studio space.

Residential space will be completely financially free. Artists will need to offer a work exchange of a completed piece of art which was created during the duration of their stay or recently completed. More information can be found here about work exchange.
The residential unit is a fully furnished one-bedroom that includes a king bed, a full bathroom, a full kitchen and a living room. The large bedroom will have a work desk and extra space to utilize for your practice. We can provide an easel and storage table. All other materials should be provided by the artist.
The large living room will be partially shared with another selected local artist seeking studio space. This house will also organize workshops, community gathering and additional opportunities to engage with other artists in the area over your professional practice and shared experience post Helene. This unit is on the top floor of a house that was built into the hillside creating a very serene and quiet experience.
The unit downstairs will be occupied by another tenant so noise should be kept to a minimum.
