Creating New Economies Fund (CNEF) Grant
Resourceful Communities’ small grants program, the Creating New Economies Fund (CNEF), is now open.
DEADLINE: Must be submitted by February 14 by 11:59 p.m. EST
This grant provides direct investment in community-based efforts that promote social justice, community economic development, and environmental stewardship. Previous projects supported include eco- and heritage tourism, youth conservation programs, nutrition programs, local food access initiatives, alternative energy production, and more.
Grant Amounts: Grants average $8,000-$12,000 and cannot exceed $15,000. There is no minimum amount that must be requested.
Eligible Applicants: Community-based organizations in rural North Carolina communities. This includes:
Nonprofits
Town and county governments
Churches and other faith-based organizations
Community organizations without a 501(c)3 nonprofit- you can still apply in partnership with a fiscal agent
Important Notes: Projects must include triple bottom line benefits (environmental, social justice, and economic benefits)
All interested applicants must reach out to a Resourceful Communities staff member to discuss their proposal by February 7th
For-profit organizations (e.g. LLC), organizations with budgets over $300,000, and organizations located in urban counties (Buncombe, Durham, Forsyth, Guilford, Mecklenburg, New Hanover, Orange, and Wake) are ineligible for this grant
