Wikicurious: WNC Women's History Month Edit-a-thon

March 24, 2026
12:00PM - 04:00PM

We invite you to participate in Wikicurious: WNC Women's History Month Edit-a-thon in order to develop pages about people who are important to Western North Carolina and the rest of the region, but are often overlooked. Our Edit-a-thon is focused on amplifying the stories and figures of under-represented Appalachian artists, writers, and other creators, particularly women in honor of Women's History Month, as well as people of color, LGBTQ individuals, and other disenfranchised communities.

A light complimentary lunch will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register in advance to help us plan.

An Edit-a-thon is a community-organized event that aims to teach folks how to edit, update, and add articles on Wikipedia. There are many ways to participate, and it's easier than you think. You can add sources to support information already on pages. You can add content to help develop pages that need more verifiable, credible information. You can even just create an account, learn some basics, and fix some typos. If you're new to editing or need a refresher, no problem! Librarians will be available to help at the in-person event. Please bring a laptop; we will have a limited number available for those who need it.
