AVL Clay - Asheville's Community Pottery Studio

Asheville’s membership-based pottery studio fostering creativity, community, and connection through

AVL Clay is Asheville’s new membership-based community pottery studio, created to foster creativity, connection, and craftsmanship through clay. Located in a beautifully restored 1920s industrial building along the Swannanoa River, AVL Clay offers memberships, classes, workshops, and private events for artists of all skill levels — from first-time beginners to experienced ceramicists.

Founded by ceramic artist Arleen Ferrara in 2025, AVL Clay was born from a desire to rebuild creative space and community following the loss of many local studios after Hurricane Helene. The 4,300-square-foot studio features 12 pottery wheels, a slab roller, multiple kilns, 13 custom glazes, and a welcoming environment designed to inspire collaboration and artistic growth.

Members enjoy open studio access (9 AM–9 PM daily), personal storage, firing services, and a growing calendar of workshops and community programs. AVL Clay is open to all artists who believe in the power of creativity and connection.
