ArtSpace Lobby Artist Exhibition
Background Information:
ArtSpace Charter School is a public K-8 school located in Swannanoa, NC. We provide immersion in all of the arts (Visual Art, Dance, Theater, Technology, and Music) as well as arts-integration instruction in all of our classrooms. We are seeking artwork from local artists working in a variety of mediums for our Lobby Gallery. We hope to promote and showcase your artwork to our families and community members while also enjoying a rotating gallery in our space every day.
Artwork Requirements:
School Appropriate: We are seeking artwork that is uplifting and welcoming to our community. Please no artwork with guns/violence, gory blood, or creepy themes for this space.
Nothing too touchable/breakable within reach of young children: Our students are respectful of artwork, but the lobby is a high-traffic area, and artwork should be selected and installed with this in mind.
Fills the Space: We are looking for our artist installations to fill the walls. Larger artworks tend to look very attractive, as do mixes of large and smaller pieces.
Exhibition Space Details:
There are two walls to the right and left of our front door available. The hanging space measures approximately 10.5’ wide x 4’ high and 5’ wide x 4.5’ high.
Additionally, there are two mini spaces next to the door where it is possible to hang two smaller pieces, about 11x14 or smaller.
Underneath the larger wall, there is a long wooden podium that runs the length of the wall, which is available for use. Historically, artists have used this space for work set up on low easels, business cards, or merchandise such as prints, cards, etc.
We cannot take direct credit card payments for artwork, but we can direct them to your payment systems that you prefer, such as Venmo or Zelle.
Additional Details:
Exhibitions are switched out every quarter and are up for approximately 9 weeks.
Artists will be expected to install and de-install their artwork on a prearranged date, typically on a weekday between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm.
We recommend artists bring their own hanging hardware and tools so that you have what you need, but we do have a hammer and some basic hanging hardware on hand if you need it.
You will not need to patch any holes during de-installation, unless they are larger than ½ an inch.
