Journey with Synamin Vixen through a sensory expansion of her book, Daughter of a Nymph Divine, into a physical world of movement, projection, and sound. This work is a living meditation of grief, pleasure, and inviting silence; and audience members are invited to take their own journey through this space.
Part of the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival, a multi-day, multi-venue extravaganza featuring dozens of weird and wonderful performances by local and traveling artists.
Synamin Vixen is a freelance artist, burlesque persona, community healer, and educator in New Orleans, and is the founder of The Cocoon and Synsual Healing. She has more than 25 years of dance experience locally and internationally. She has been studying Afro-Diasporic herbal and traditional care practices, reiki, and sex doula work for the past 5 years. Her choreography sparks conversations on identity and social memory. Her work in burlesque (on and off stage) focuses on the body as a sensual site of transformative healing. In 2021, she released her book of ancestral poetry entitled Daughter of a Nymph Divine.
