JAJA BASHENGEZI

Born in Bukavu, in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, Jaja is an internationally respected multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and educator whose music tells stories of resilience and peace. After fleeing conflict in his homeland, he rebuilt his life through music, becoming one of East Africa's leading musicians and collaborating with artists like Vieux Farka Toure and Fatoumata Diawara. Today he performs worldwide, sharing culture, peace-building and the refugee experience through the language of music.
