Encaustic is a wonderful medium for collage because of the ability to build up translucent layers, remove and reposition elements, and create dreamy compositions!

This beginner-friendly class offers both new and experienced students a formula for developing their encaustic paintings and is a great way to understand “thinking in layers.” And, we'll be working on multiple panels at once - a great way to experience the basic principles for developing a body of related work.

You'll also learn:

• Ways of developing a background on a bare wood panel BEFORE you add wax, including paint and collage
• Techniques for creating depth and cohesion in your work
• Tips for composition and building a structure in your painting
